Unfortunately, all electric locomotives used in the Olbersdorf opencast mining were scrapped. The last opportunity to purchase such an El 3, 75t, 900mm track, offered with the attitude of the coal driving company (Germany far) on 25.12.1999 in Brieske-Senftenberg. 802 of this locomotives were build at LEW in Hennigsdorf. The locomotive 4-98 pulled the penultimate coal train from the coal pile to the industrial power plant Brieske and the last coal train from the open-pit mine Meuro. These locomotive was build in 1954 with the factory no. 7119 in Hennigsdorf and delivered in 1955 with four more electric locomotives to the BKW Franz Mehring. Thus was El 3, 4-98 exactly 44 years in the coal-driving operation of the opencast mining Niemtsch and open-pit mine Meuro. On Friday the 10.3.2000 was the last transport of an El 3 from the Lusatians in the Oberlausitzer district carried out. Here at Olbersorf Lake in the former daytime facilities El 3, 4-98, spends your second existence.
